Second car options on a 10k budget?

Hi all,

Had some great help before when I've been overwhelmed with choice, hoping to get the same again. Basic situation is that we're down to 1 car and with onsite working (software/legal consultancy) starting to commence again we're thinking we're going to need to get a second car again and whilst there was the temptation to get a shed, I've been overruled by the OH. I'm hoping instead to get something slightly nicer than a shed, put 3k miles a year on it and run it as a 2nd/3rd car until it's dead.

Basic criteria :

• 10k budget
• No diesels (Likelihood of doing predominantly <5mile journeys, can't guarantee frequency of a longer run for any potential DPF issues)
• Fit two dogs in the back (boot or back seats, either is fine for the rare occasion they're in the car)

Desireable criteria:

• Heated seats (knackered back, the heat helps)
• Sat Nav (Doesn't need to be great, longer journeys would use Waze and a dash mount)
• Cruise Control
• Something a little fun to drive

The shortlist at the moment is: MK7 Fiesta ST-3, Audi A3 (MK3?), Mini Cooper... Maybe a 118i? Just struggling to find nice examples for trade sale, planning on distance buying so trying to avoid private purchases.

BMW 1 series? Not the prettiest but a very good car and sprightly if you get a 3 litre petrol.
