A delivery driver was handed 78 points on his driving licence after he was caught by the same set of speed cameras 26 times in the space of just three months.
Phillip Dodd was repeatedly flashed by the Gatso cameras as he drove his work van at speeds of between 56mph and 63mph along a 50mph stretch of the M62 near Warrington.
He was banned from driving for six months although it is thought the points will drop off his licence at the end of his disqualification.
'I was often the only vehicle driving home at 6am.....
He added: 'The van wasn't in my name and that's why I kept on getting tickets and not knowing I was getting them.
'Twelve weeks later, I got 26 letters through the post. When I realised, I contacted Swansea DVLA and told them the situation. I am not a dangerous driver. '
Dodd was also fined a total of £520 - £20 for each speeding offence and was ordered to pay £142 in costs and surcharges

Isn't there a maximum time they have to contact you before they are no longer valid? Ithought this was something like 2 weeks? Expecting an expert along in 3..2..1..
They have 14 days to contact the registered keeper, since that was not the victim of this tale, it all gets a bit messier after that.ChocolateFrog said:
Sounds like he got off pretty lightly if he only has to pay £20 per offence.
Although 56mph is hardly the crime of the century, no doubt on a road that used to be NSL.
It's a motorway and it was/would be 70 before the roadworks, which have probably been there for years as there are loads on the M62 round Cheshire/Gtr Manchester. Although 56mph is hardly the crime of the century, no doubt on a road that used to be NSL.
He wouldn't have been the only vehicle around at that time either, unless it was a Sunday.
Without seeing the bit of road i find it hard to pass judgement but i will say that many roads here in Cornwall have had the 60 limits reduced to 50 and 40 in many places. Totally daft, its now too slow and seems to be an attempt to frustrate you out of your car and onto a bus or train that doesn't run anywhere near where you are actually going anyway.

Was this an more of a "harmless infringement" or "blatant disregard" deal? I suspect since the speeds were actually low and around the 60mph limit for the van itself its the former.

Someone who is so inattentive that they've not noticed the speed limit, the signs or the flash when you go past the camera. Sounds like he's a great driver!
And he is given up professional driving to become a gas fitter......

The trouble with speed cameras is they dont stop you exceeding a limit they only issue you a warning through the post too late

He didn't receive the NIPs because the van wasn't registered to him. I assume he bought it and the previous RK hadn't returned the change of keeper form. It sounds like he moved house and then realised he had never received the new V5C, and sorted it out.

Every time I have seen someone wearing one of those, I have identified them as being an absolute fInteresting thing is wearing the sunflower lanyard in court...
king weirdo.I saw two people in the supermarket wearing them last week, and they both looked like serious oddballs/Walts/misfits/creeps. One of them was wearing camouflage army pants and army boots, with a ‘Help for Heroes’ hoodie on. Absolute guaranteed Walt.
That aside, I always wonder why there are people who speed past everyone else in long stretches of average cameras on motorway. I always think they must know something that no one else does, but when I see cases like this, I realise they are probably just unobservant idiots. Either that or they are criminals and the car isn’t registered to anyone who I actually exits.
