Outlook - doesn't sync with exchange automatically

Does anyone know any settings in outlook that would mean that it is not "live syncing" with the exchange server. We have a shared mailbox at work and normally changes occur to all users at the same time, but mine is only updating when I hit send/receive.

Have you modified your mail setting so that Outlook stores your mail folders locally on your machine in personal folders? This cause what you're seeing. There is a setting somewhere to tell outlook to check for new mail every xx minutes as well.

If it's an exchange mapi mailbox it should sync all the time. You can configure it to auto send/receive, but that's cheating.

Is there a firewall between your client and server (the notification from Exchange is sent using UDP on a random, high port).
