The DVD drive on my computer only plays 5 minutes of a DVD and then the picture freezes (sound keeps on going)

Depending on the software you can re-start it....

Media player - frezzes completely, can't acces other chapters
Win DVD - Have to stop the program but can restart on any chapter
Ai DVD (some crap one that came with Star Wars) - can stop and return to the main menu/chapter selection

Any ideas what could be wrong  sound and picture are fine while it's working

Cheers

Ben

You sure you're not using a Trial version of DVD Region Free thats expired??

Sounds like the sort of thing it does.

One of them is a trial version

But media player isn't !!

Is it possible that the trial version has stuck something somewhere making other packages not work properly

If so what would it be and where can I find it.

Well out of my depth here, haven't got a clue of where to look

Which version of Media Player are you using?
If it's before MP10 (I think) it doesn't actually have the decoders for playing DVD's built into it. It will however, use the decoders of another piece of software once installed. If these have expired, MP will not be able to play them either.
Best bet is to uninstall all of your DVD software, and install a full version (or upgrade to the latest Media Player).
