Whole thing is becoming (already is?) a farce.
I’m not entirely certain who is at fault, though my best guess is the media, but the ongoing handwringing about infections is ridiculous.
Surely, once the a significant percentage of the at risk groups had received two jabs we should have dropped the restrictions. Yes, infections amongst low risk groups would increase (probably by a lot) but is that really a problem?

Reading a bit about potential restrictions going forward.
The guardian saying that having a two tier restriction system will lead to "resentment" and non compliance.

The strawman they've set up is people not "offered" the vaccine. (under 30s maybe?), though I think what they wanted to write but couldn't is people who have been offered it but refused to get it.
Obviously the issue they don't want to bring up is why are people still refusing to get it, as the graun probably counts many of those as loyal readers and doesn't want to upset them.
If anything, there will be far more "resentment" from those who have been double jabbed but are still living under restrictions because of the few who for "reasons" don't want to reduce the threat of covid 19.
But I'm sure they'll just branded as alt-right or as exploiting their privilege by the guardian.
I hope the focus on basics like hand washing and catching sneezes remaims after 18 July though

I think travel restrictions will continue. There are other hidden restrictions masking the effects of Covid too, such as the bans on landlords evicting businesses (till March '22) and on issuing winding-up petitions (currently till end of Sep '21). There will be loads of zombie businesses out there who can't be forced to fold.

I imagine masks will be encouraged or remain so that the little social media Adolfs will still have something to try and enforce. I can see them having a “I’m still wearing mine to protect others” sticker on their Facebook profile, covering their somber mask-wearing selfie to remind us that Covid is still stalking us.
There’ll be further efforts to create a split between those who’ve had the injection and those who haven’t in order to shame and coerce the unvaccinated into having it. So I can see them pushing ahead with no quarantine/no testing for those who chose to be injected but increasingly ridiculous rules for the non-jabbed to make life difficult.

I can’t see them letting pubs open fully. They’ve had a downer on pubs throughout all this.
Masks - it’s apparent that people are getting very tired of this; I’m gauging whether or not to put one on now by looking at what other people and especially the staff are doing. If they aren’t bothering then I’m not.

No wonder we have problems adhering to the rules.

Mask up on entry and when going to a seated area, when seated can dispense with mask but if you go for a pee you need to mask up again and same when you leave.
Table service only (although thankfully my local is playing lip service to that)

So has Dog Star been sat there at home, gasping to go out for a pint, while everyone else has been down at the pub?
Smacks of one of those Japanese soldiers they found in the Philippines, still fighting WW2 in 1974.
