Went for a noise test at Bedford Autodrome on Saturday in preparation for my trackday on Friday.

My car is right on the limit - the track manager kept making us go round again and every time it was within a db of the specified limit. They are very strict on these limits and if you are 1dB over just once you will be black-flagged.

Now i may be able to back off a bit when i go past the noise maters but that would spoil the fun a bit, so was wondering if anyone around Surrey has a std exhaust for a 4.5 that i could hire / borrow for a few days?

Alternatively, anyone have any suggestions for reducing the noise a bit? Just a couple of db should do it.

Cheers :)

Already shelled out to hire some silencers from ACT but they don't fit

I have a Hayward and Scott exhaust system that has completely replaced the original system so I can't just change the backbox.

I don't know if they'd fit but...

I have a pair of silencers things sitting in my garage that came with the car. I have sports exhausts fitted and I have a feeling they fit inside the ends of the pipes (but I've not looked closely).

If you want to come and borrow them, let me know. I'm in Crawley, just off the M23.

Reply to this here if you're interested and I'll send you an e-mail from my main account.

Cheers

Cheers Rob

I'll measure the pipes when I get home and let you know the diameter so we can work out whether they'll fit

They would fit if you had a standard bore exhaust (2 1/2" O/D pipes)

If you send them back pronto i'll refund the hire charge.

Or you could get some adapters made ?

Neil,

No worries - I'll climb into the loft in the garage tonight and see if I can dig them out.

I also need to work out how they stay in the exhausts - but then I'm no engineer!

I'll send you a message with my private e-mail.

Cheers

Very generous of you Tim, wasn't expecting that. I'll get them in the post to you tomorrow morning. Don't think i'd have time to get adapters made.

Now that's what I call good service

Alternatively i might be able to get some adapters by the end of the week, no panic to send them back tommorow, you might want to consider all your options first, you may need bolt on silencers to achieve the noise level ?

Thanks Tim,

Measured the exhausts and they are 75mm diameter. Please let me know if you think you have / can get something that may help.

Cheers,

Neil.
