Elroy jnr has just got a 10 year old DS3 with a very, very faded black roof. I cut it back using a DA polisher and menzerna heavy cut compound with pretty good results

However, after a few days, the cut area is starting to fade and bloom again. (Difficult to see on the picture). I polished after cutting but it’s not stopped it going milky again. Is there anything I can do to keep it gloss black

I'm struggling to make much out from the photos unfortunately, but it sounds like the clear coat has gone bad, perhaps porous. I suspect you could re-polish then seal with a wax/sealant/ceramic coating but i'd question the longevity of these solutions.

Given the cost of reclearing a roof isn't significant I would opt for this rather than chase my tail.

If you compare the gloss black area in the top photo, you can see in the bottom one how the same area has started to go milky again.
Going to give it another cut. If it doesn't work I'll just get the lacquer resprayed

Just a thought but was it single stage paintwork? If there was paint transfer on the pads I’d say yes. If so it would need very light polishing and sealing immediately with wax or another type of coating.
