1999 996 memory seats link to key?
Discussion
Sorry, another noob 996 question.
Our car is a 99 carrera 4 with memory seats. Is it possible to link seat memory position to the key fob used?
There is a lot of noise about this online. I know later cars had a key button on the seat switch panel for doing exactly this. My car doesn't have a key button, just M,1,2,3. Some forum posts seem to suggest that it can be done on earlier cars by holding the M button down and pressing the blipper while it's in the ignition. This doesn't seem to do anything.
Am I trying to make a feature work that doesn't actually exist? The keys are the single button type.

Hi!
The process you describe is correct for setting seat position to a given key, but insofar as I'm aware (am happy to be corrected), this only works on 997 and later cars, as the 996 doesn't have a key-detection system. When I put either key in my 997.1 ignition, it tells me whether it's key 1 or 2,

Cheers. Had more or less concluded that. Would have been nice but no big deal.
