I don't know what it was about Porsche 911 but ever since I knew what they were, I wanted one. Admittedly it was the G bodied 3.0 SC that really got me hooked. Ideally in red with a whale-tail and Fuchs. All very cliché I know but I was only about 17 or 18. A couple of years later and I would often head up to Eagle Racing near Maidstone, Kent and ogle their stock of sports cars. Henry (the owner) must have known I didn't have a pot to piss in but he would still indulge me and let me wander around the barn full of exotics. He was always busy with E types but never once did he refuse to answer my questions. It was his business partner who let me drive my first 911 though. A black, short wheelbase 911s from '68 or '69 car that was the princely sum of £7K I think? I absolutely loved the thing but I didn't have 700 let alone 7000! It didn't matter though, they were just as enthusiastic as I was and were happy to let me play.
A year or so later there was an offer of a red 3.0 SC but if I recall it was partially stripped maybe? It was £3K though and once more I just didn't have the cash. This was 1989 I think and my daily at that time was a Porsche 914, albeit one with the 916 arches fitted. It was red and imported in '78/79 so wore a T reg' plate. I also had a white 924 Lux (XAR 391X) with the gorgeous psychedelic trim. I also missed out on a rusty '68 912 for £1000 which looked pretty but was very rusty underneath. It was then that I discovered BMW's and they're what I've had ever since really. Apart from a few years of RS2000 MK2 Escorts anyway.
So anyway, recent life events and poor health have meant I needed to take a chance and grab the opportunity to finally have my own 911. An air cooled car is just out of the question and in reality there was only ever going to be one 911 available in my meagre budget. Don't get me wrong, it's still a lot of money (to me anyway!) but it's a proper 911 no matter what its critics might say. It's a manual, non sunroof C2 and has a 3.6 flat six with 320bhp. I know the boxster red interior won't be for everyone but personally I think it's a great contrast with the silver paint. That said, I don't much like the steering wheel but I have plans to change that. Best of all I can easily get in and out of it, despite my dodgy leg and there's plenty of room. The engine feels great and sounds even better. Even the Mrs likes it! An added bonus was fully comprehensive insurance was just £141!

Thanks for the positive comments - appreciated.
Giving the car a thorough inspection I noticed that although wearing matching Michelin all round they were maybe past their best. Then I spotted these for less than the cost of new rubber. They may not be Michelin’s but they’re much newer and still a decent tyre. I’m unsure about black rims though and would prefer a bright gold finish like satin aurum like the GT3RS wheels.

Looked good on sellers car though.

Congratulations - it looks like you've found a really nice example and the colour combo works perfectly in my view, for some reason red interiors on these are a bit marmite amongst Porsche fans but I much prefer it over grey or or black. If your budget allows I'd suggest going for gunmetal on those new wheels as mentioned above, I think the added outlay would be well worth it

what tyres are they? My goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 5's have been excellent on road and track this year.
They're same as yours. I'd hoped to do the Bola rims in a bright satin gold but I think the cash would be better spent on the car itself. A new set of headers could be had for the same cost as a wheel refurb' or some Meyle suspension components? I think silver cars look pretty good on black wheels anyway and I can play with aesthetics once any issues are sorted.
