Hi all. All too often when I start up my Auto 330ci the little ‘cog’ icon appears when the ‘P’ should be and I have to stop it, start it, stop it, start it repeatedly until it goes away and I can drive away.

Is there a simple fix for this? Otherwise is drives beautifully.

Thanks very much.

I changed the battery and have not seen the little cog since. I may just be lucky of course but worth checking.

If its the gearbox selector switch a code will show up for that.

Had the cog on mine, a quick code read showed selector switch problem.£250 (part cost) later and 20 mins under the car it was fixed.

Thanks guys. Can any garage do a code read or do I need a specialist?

Cheers.

Any garage will be able to read error codes.

btw you can do it yourself for less than a tenner. all you need is a smartphone and a Bluetooth obd2 code reader.

Can you interrogate the full set of CU's with a simple bluetooth adapter? I've only found the specific USB interface works with INPA etc...

Where are you OP? A PH'er might take pity on you with a code reader

+1 for the gearbox position switch, a fairly common issue.

Don't think so, i'm sure inpa is pc software based isn't it?
