Porsche Cayman S (987.2)
Discussion
After a long time watching the market and waiting for the right car to come up I finally have my first Porsche.
The last few months were particularly painful watching prices ever rising.
I was originally searching for base model 2.9 manual cars but barely any are available and good one's would disappear from the market sometimes within 24 hours. I started to consider gen 1 S cars due to the abundance of them available but ultimately I am glad I held out for a gen 2.
I had sold my previous car (Honda CRZ) earlier this year after it doing nothing for the past year due to WFH which is set to continue at least into next year for me. Gone is the need for a cheap commuter and hence I can have a fun car again!
It's a 2009 registerd car, PASM, Bose, Xenon's, NAV etc. I am not a big "spec" guy but PASM was something I was keen to have. I also really wanted no rear wiper, I'm not a fan of the way they look, although it wouldn't have been a deal breaker if the rest of the car was to my liking.
First impressions have been great, tipping the car into corners is like nothing else I have have felt before.
On the to do list is get air con sorted as it is weak, condensors appear to need replacing at the minimum. I bought some new wheel bolts to replace the weathered old one's too.

Thanks for the comments all. Yes the wheels are a nice design and not overly common.
I do have a thing for the 'lobster claw' wheels on a Cayman, I think they always look superb but I'm happy with these.
I have the Carrera S “Lobster Claw” wheels on my recently acquired 987 Boxster, also my first Porsche. I really do love the 987 generation cars, even with rising prices they’re still amazing value for money. Enjoy!I do have a thing for the 'lobster claw' wheels on a Cayman, I think they always look superb but I'm happy with these.

Little update, tidied a few little cosmetic things up that were bugging me (Headlights and wheel nuts)
But otherwise just enjoying driving the car on aimless drives. I have never really been one to go on drives for the sake of just driving around, I think i typically got my daily fix in the daily commute in the past but having been WFH for the last 18 months I now just take any opportunity to just go out for the sake of driving and I think the Cayman is the perfect car for it, I am really enjoying it!
Not a perfect job on the headlights but much improved. Had no idea about the removal process of the headlights and how simple it is with the provided tool, really impressed with that!

New wheel bolts to replace the crust one's.

Looks great and I love the colour! I have a manual 2.9 that I bought in 2020 and I spent ages looking, you’re right that good ones go very quickly. Mine is also used for my commute and really lifts the drive to work. Can I ask where you got your wheel nuts from, they look superb and it’s the next job on my to do list! Gratuitous pic of mine….

Thanks Andrew, yours looks fantastic and those wheels are to die for!

Many thanks for the link, much appreciated I got wheel bolts from here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302779046353
I do love the wheels, they're easily my favourite design from that era. Some of the purists might get a bit grumpy as it's not a Cayman R, but it's not the end of the world, especially given how many comments I get from people thinking it's a 911
I also have a set of 18s that go on over the winter.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
