Elders car 3k budget

Hi,
I'm after a car for elder neighbours that has asked me to look for a suitable car for them.

The criteria is as follows...

Budget is around the 3k mark

Small(ish) 5 door hatchback (they had a Honda Jazz that they where happy with, but due to the new congestion charge introduced, they need something newer)

Must be a petrol and Automatic

Meet CAZ standards, (registered after 2005)

That's all I can think off at the moment. They have always trusted in jap car, and I think they'd like to stick with that (if possible)

Offerings from Hyundai or kia would work, a ceed or i30, potentially with some warranty remaining.

Kia Soul. A very under rated car. The 1.6 diesel is really nippy too but has lots of space.

Looking for a similar car I keep coming back to the Astra J as it seems to offer the most car for the money and has a traditional torque converter automatic.

Honda Jazz all day long. Reliable, light steering, automatic, cheap to service / tyres.

I noticed a Renault was mentioned above, good god no.

Stay with Honda for anyone over 60.

Isn't the automatic gearbox on these a CVT and horrible?

CVT yes but horrible ? No, let's just say different.

There's a saying in my petrolhead group, "All roads lead to Jazz" eventually we all end up in a jazz, and for good reason :-)

I thought old people were only allowed to choose between a Honda Jazz or a Hyundai i10.
That’s what you’d conclude with a casual survey of what’s in the roads.

Mrs Scrump has had her 1.6 automatic note for about 12 years now. It has been the most reliable car either of us has ever had, by far. The gearbox would be unbearable for use on a track day but for general family driving it is adequate, kickdown is quite funny, I would not call it slow.

Painfully slow? Nonsense. Whilst no performance car, the 1.6 has 110bhp and makes the Note quite nippy for what it is. Obviously the manual will be quicker than the auto as you would expect, though that's hardly relevant here. The auto provides more than enough performance for what the car is and it's a very smooth responsive 'box being an old-school four-speed torque-converter. The Note is generally a very reliable car as well.
