Downloading google map onto iPhone

Hi

I will hopefully be in Greece in a couple of weeks' time and would like to know how I download a map of the locality so I can use it offline without getting stiffed for data consumption abroad.

I dimly remember this is possible but I can't recall how.

Anyone care to enlighten me, please?

i would also suggest buying a local SIM for data when you arrive, its vastly cheaper than using your own

Does one have to turn off mobile data in order for the phone to use the saved maps or is it automatic?

Do you not have roaming on your contract?

And how much data do you have per month?

I have 5GB a month, roaming included. How much data is google maps going to use driving around?

Sod all, ~5Mb at most. If you're at all worried, find the destination and route whilst on Wi-Fi then it will be even less.
