Random thought on the 5.9 engine

Could it be that AM initially choose this particular litre number as a homage to the Le Mans victory of 1959?

I very much doubt it, the piston size is good size if Ford wanted it for a 2.0 litre flat 4 or 3.0 litre V6, they were common in the Mondeo's.

My thoughts, I could be wrong though.

To be crude it is two Mondeo V6s put together. 2,967 cc x 2 =5935 cc (Presumably a slight round up.)

Anyway Aston refers to it as 6.0.

Still a wonderful engine finished off by Cosworth.
