AVO or GAZ ?

Folks,
My rear end seems a little squirmy over undulations at speed......and, after a bit of investigation, believe my rear dampers are past their best..only 22k but 11 years old :laugh:

Now, Nitrons are out of the question so between AVO's and GAZ what are your general opinions ?

What springs to go for and where the best place to get them ??

Well Stu 247 you need a new grill, say a Stainless Steel one!!!

I am running AVO's on mine and have done for 5 years now, I have a new set going on this winter and I feel that they are the best value for money, if you set them up right.

Gaz are also good value and the current offer is very hard to beat.

New grill ?? funnily enough the bar-b-que has had a fair ole bashing this last week

When you say current offer, which offer is this ?...have I missed something ??

I went for Avos, easy to fit, easy to adjust, and easy on the pocket! Total bill for 2 rear shocks including 300 springs was £250 inc vat and P&P

What poundage spring would one suggest for fast road usage ??

Probably 375lb front and 325lb rear would suit but with 36 progressive adjustments on Gaz you can effectively get 25lb+/- on the damping and a good company would offer a free exchange on springs if they didn't suit

Don't get top racing drivers doing research for my competitors.

depends on the competitor ... I employed the services of a then current BTCC / Porsche racer when doing the first Nitron NTR tests

I'm more thinking Northampton way.

That seems very stiff at the rear compared to my 350lb front / 275lb rear setup - are these suggestions for linear springs as I have? (AVO dampers BTW)

I'd appreciate comments on the kinds of differences that this could generate on the road.

Yeah,ohlins and koni both reccommend with their top of the range dampers around 325f 275r.

These spring rates are for fast road and I have about 15 Chim/Griffs running on around these rates.

I'm doing some spring testing on a 4.3 pre-cat Griff on the 1st August and we will see what Steve Guglielmi says works best and then you can judge.
