The missus wants a 10-inch tablet as she finds her Amazon Fire one hard to see.

She only uses it for some puzzle games, browsing the web for shopping and for watching TV on catch-up, so don't need bells-and-whistles.

Am I better of getting a cheap tablet off eBay/Amazon from some never heard of chinese brand, or buying a secondhand Acer or similar? The new ones come with a later version of Android, so in theory should be usable for longer, but they are obviously built down to a price.

I had a 10" Samung tab A, loved it. New versions are around £170
It's great build quality and a clear screen
If you want to play some of the more demanding games though, it struggles
Had it 4 years and sold it for £70
Always some for sale somewhere

Got the new tab s7 recently and it's far, far superior ( so it should be at £400+)
Screen, memory, storage, s-pen.. you name it!
Everything I tried on it runs beautifully

I'd say the Tab A too. Be aware that an older machine will be getting towards the end of it's battery life. My Tab A 7 still gets about 9-10 hours from a charge though. My dad's Tab A 9 has a bit more horsepower and considerably better sound, but I don't like the screen so much.

After my 7inch Alba one started to cook the battery I tried an Amazon fire 32 GB, but it was loaded with bloatware. I've settled on an Alba 10 inch with 32Gb memory. Only time will tell if it's bad as the 7inch one. problem is ? what is not made in China these days.

After a month, I'm happy.
