Attempted break in 7/7 foiled.... after my Golf R estate

One is pissed off..........
Pair of scrotes tried to break into my house and get the keys to my 2020 Golf R estate.
Came in through the back garden.
The back door lock foiled there attempt to snap it off ( cat 1 lock) and they were to fat to get in through the kitchen window.
Neighbour son may have disturbed them when returned from the pub after the footie at 2.30 am and there door camera picked up movement after he stumbled in....
Greater Manchester Police were fantastic. 2 hours after my logging the incident online a CSI lady was at my house dusting for finger prints (could see marks on door and windows where they tried to force them open)
No joy as wearing gloves. The lady told me she had come from another call a few hundred yards from my house where the thieves actually got in,got the keys but were foiled as the guys son had parked in front of the garage. Guy had a Mercedes
Wake up call for me. Will be selling the Golf ASAP as do not want to risk this happening again.
So having spoken to the CSI lady I heartily recommend upgrading your door locks to Cat 1..........my replacement set cost £68 which is a bargain...
Only good news is I will turn a profit on the Golf with the silly prices being offered........

It's a shame that these 
s put you in a position where you don't feel comfortable owning the car, but ultimately the safety and well-being of you and your family is paramount and whilst you shouldn't have to sell it, I would probably be doing exactly the same in your situation. Glad to hear that you won't be losing out financially at least.

I know, through experience. They did get the keys and my car when I experienced it though.

Nice one. I wouldn’t have had such luck. The four lads that came for mine were heavily tooled, with the driver armed with a sawn off shot gun.I did get the car back due to the tracker, and the perps caught getting into it. They also had a van parked with it that linked them back to armed robberies. Each got ten years in the end. Despite the jail time, the Evo (at the time) was promptly sold and due to fear wanted a quick sale so lost a considerable amount on that car! Bought new from the dealer too 6 months previous.
In hindsight I should have priced accordingly, but just wanted rid, my son at the time was 1 year old and was in the house when it happened at 3am. Really does put the s

It's equally possible that it was just some lowlife on the prowl for anything they could get their hands on for their next fix.
As regards CCTV, the OP said it 'detected movement', what does that mean?
OP, was there any conclusive evidence regarding size or numbers of miscreants?

Unfortunately it seems that there are some parts of the country where owning certain types of car is a lot more of a risk than others. Having said that, it can happen anywhere with any car - in a neighbouring quiet village a Ford Fusion was taken during a burglary. Having a Golf R ups the chances massively though.

The attempt up the road from me on the same night. Also I stupidly left the shed open that night and its got bikes, lawn mowers and £6k worth of model kits in..by open I mean the door left open............

t, I know first hand. To then cast doubt over the reason is bizzare tbh. The Golf R along with the RS3 is amongst the top five most stolen cars, it really isn’t a stretch to conclude the reason why they were there.cheesesliceking said:

He replied back very politely with some further information, thus answering my questions.
I wonder if you could explain what your goal was with your completely pointless post.
The movement was recorded on a ring doorbell thing from, next door.
Will be helping him fit proper cctv next week as he has a nice defender and FFRR on his drive.
Main reason for posting was to mention having decent door locks as it was those that stopped them getting in.
Also the splendid job the police did. Did not expect the full CSI treatment when nothing was taken.

Ours was a man with a knife at 4am. He woke my wife up, and demanded keys. I gave him a slap and the police got his dna from the blood he left behind.
Three weeks kater, a relative of his, and three mates smashed their way in in the middle of the afternoon, properly tooled up woth machetes and the like. We were on holiday by this time, and the police caught all four of them after my neighbour called 999 while the break-in was taking place.
I sold the car because my wife and the neighbours were obviously rattled. A short while later, one of our rental properties became vacant, so we moved into that.
Three weeks kater, a relative of his, and three mates smashed their way in in the middle of the afternoon, properly tooled up woth machetes and the like. We were on holiday by this time, and the police caught all four of them after my neighbour called 999 while the break-in was taking place.
I sold the car because my wife and the neighbours were obviously rattled. A short while later, one of our rental properties became vacant, so we moved into that.

CSI lady said how a lot of then cars get broken into spares and sold on that way.
Also that the
s who do the breaking and entering get paid about £200 a car.... She had a good look around for the briken door handle as tbey often use mole frips and they can trace it back if they arrest someone with mole grips on them to previous break ins
