Winter's fast approaching or so the weatherman say, so I think its time that I sorted out some protection for the Chimaera. Unfortunately not having a garage the poor car has to sit on the drive outside the house, so me thinks its time for a cover.
Can anyone recomend a good cover, ie. one thats easy to fit and is water / weather proof.

I used to use one from covercraft (think that's who they are) which covers the entire car. It's breathable (better for the paintwork) but also weather proof. It's a good fit so it doesn't flap around in the wind (also good for the paintwork). Also, I could fit it in about 30 seconds.

I stopped using it as it needs a d@mn good clean. Anyone know if the usual dry-cleaners will be able to handle a car cover?

My only complaint is that it sticks to the paintwork on a frosty morning - had visions of the pulling the paint off with the cover...

I've also got the 'Hood cover' from Leven Technology. Takes longer to fit though... and it's frosty-morning safe since it just covers the roof and windows so the rest of the car is left open to the elements...

Think they both cost about £250

I bought a Covercraft Weathershield www.covercraft-europe.com/car.html which is absolutely ideal. Super fit and good elastic round front and back keeps it secure. What's more it goes in the washing machine each month so it's easy to keep clean. Delivery was 3 days. Gets my 5 star rating.

We've discussed this many times here, but to give you the executive summary:

If you put an all-over car cover on a wet and/or dirty car and its windy, your paintwork will be scratched by the cover which will now have turned into an effective wet & dry sandpaper

A cockpit-only cover, like the Leven Hood Cover will protect the glasshouse and hood and ensure zero leaks even in the most inclement weather and only contacts the paintwork along the top edges of your doors. Same caveat as above but the scratching is far more localised.

Is your driveway suitable for a car port? Gives a lot of protection, although obviously not as much as a garage.

BTW, the Leven Hood Cover is £150

outside on the drive, get a car port or a garage built straight away.
