Tax relief on mortgage redemption charges ?

Hi. I recently had cheap short term mortgages on two rental properties which were ending soonish. Looking around for new deals everything was much higher than before ( mortgage companies muted at my age 72 they couldn’t give cheap deals.) Anyway I opted to pay off mortgages and redemption fees attached to them. The redemptions came to nearly £7k. .My question is can I claim tax relief on these fees? I’m based in central Scotland. I did have an accountant who took care of books but he retired last year so thought I’d have a go. Regards. Ian
