Good Afternoon, I have received information that you will need to take action on immediately. We have received information that a recorded delivery letter will be sent on Monday to all Members who have TVR Insurance policies still with the Independent. Unfortunately Members that have already transferred may also get letters. You will recall that A Manning UK Limited offered the Members the option to stay with the Independent with the limited cover or transfer to the Cornhill Insurance at the same rates and cover excluding breakdown. Two thirds of Members transfered and policies are being processed. However the remainder deceided to take the gamble and remain with the Independent with the limited cover until renewal date. THE SITUATION HAS NOW CHANGED the Independent are envoking their cancellation rights and therefore all cover will cease with effect from 30 July 2001. You will have NO cover at all and alternative arrangements must be made. I am sending a letter out tonight and tomorrow explaining what needs to be done. Effectively the situation is the same i.e. the Cornhill Insurance will issue a new policy at pro rata of the existing premium from 30 July 2001 to your existing renewal date. You will be required to pay the additional premium within 7 days of receipt of the cover note.If previously paying by instalments please stop your direct debit immediately and in due course a new mandate form will be forwarded. Obviously if paying by instalments the policy will be for 12 months. When you receive our letter you will need to sign the declaration and return it to us immediately together with the old certificate in order that we can obtain the refund of premium. You will appreciate that we are very stretched at present and therefore I would be grateful if you would NOT telephone us or the TVR Car Club office with any queries relating to this letter. Obviously if you need a cover note to tax your vehicle then call. I would be very grateful if you would help me on this as you will appreciate we need to get things geared ready to issue covernotes and process policies I will enter this site each afternoon next week to answer any queries that may arise and will also drop in and out over the weekend. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST ( I think!!!!!) Ann Manning

Anne Still waiting to hear from Matthew re my policy ... you said he had it on his desk a couple of weeks ago! I appreciate you you are v busy, so I let it slide, but this latest changes things somewhat. I can't spend all day on the phone tying to get through, I'm on client sites and it just ain't professional. You have my mobile number I believe, or email me at phil.short@ntlworld.com. Regards Phil Short, CV21 (Chimaera 500 and Audi A8)

First of all I'd like to say thanks for making this whole Independent thing as painless as possible for us. There is one element I'm not sure about. You say:

When you receive our letter you will need to sign the declaration and return it to us immediately together with the old certificate in order that we can obtain the refund of premium.
How much refund do you expect to get? When do you expect to get it? What will happen to it when you receive it? I stand to lose 5 months' premium, so am interested to know if I'll ever see any of it back. Nick North

Mr North, Thank you for your query. I confirm that you will receive 90% refund for the period 30 July 2001 to the existing renewal date. When you will receive it I do not know only that we have been promised that refunds will be dealt with quickly. What I plan to do is to send a back of certificates to the liquidator every Monday and cheques will be sent to you direct NOT from us. Hope this answers your query. Ann Manning

Anne Thanks. I spoke to Paul (I think) and Matthew yesterday, and things are looking much rosier than they were. The docs are in the post. Can't say how impressed I am with Mannings excellent service over this. Nice one!

Ann Thanks for being available on all of this.... I am doubly affected because I have bothe the chimaera and the discovery insured with independent through you. The two letters are somewhat contradictory - Do I need to fill in all of the forms sent to me by the liquidator? Do I just send you the certificate? Pls also confirm that you have had my signed declaration. Your fax doesn't work!! Richard richard@theheppers.freeserve.co.uk

Ann, Nice to see you back in the forums :-) Any chance of a reply to the email(s) I have sent you & Neil on 28/06,02/07 & 10/7 to which as yet I've had no response !!!!! I also have not received the seconf letter you have sent on approx 13th July ??? I appreciate this is a busy time and have tried not to clog the phone lines as requested ( which is also difficult because I have been travelling between customer sites ) but feel after waiting 3 weeks with no reply of any description is somewhat 'extracting the urine' Regards Paul Kent.

Paul Kent, I am really sorry to see your message here and yes you probably think we are extracting the ***** but please, this is not intentional. I have to be honest but we just cannot find either a file or e-mails from you. I have spoken to both Matthew and Neil this morning and neither has any knowledge of correspondence. I really am sorry. I have asked them to turn the office upside down today until they find the file and as soon as I have located the papers I will respond. If you like to give me your telephone number I will call you. I am not in the office today but if you wish to speak with Matt his direct extension is 7206. Ann

Ann Manning, Since my last post I have :- 1)Tried ringing but you have been unavailable. 2) I have faxed you and have proof of receipt ok. 3) I have written to you (sent recorded delivery) and yet still no acknoledgement of any description let alone a hint of any answers to the questions posed re: my case. I have been *very* patient throughout this whole shambles, but can't help feeling that the service (or lack of) from Manning's has been far from satisfactory. I have done all that you have asked, I have forwarded my address & phone / fax /email to you - do I really have to take the time out to make a personal visit to get a response let alone some answers ???? If I've not heard from you by the end of this week 5/8/2001 I'll take that as an open invite to make a personal visit to resolve this. Yours anxiously awaiting your response in fact any response !!!! Paul Kent.
