All,

I am not sure this is the correct section, but I this seemed the most appropriate.

I am working on a side project at the moment, I am back at University (as a mature student) and I am hoping to launch a campaign that reduces the stigma around accessing emergency PEP medication.

Anyway, part of the plan is to create a step-by-step action plan that is printed on a fridge magnet and placed in University accommodation. The thing is, I want it to look pro and I know that a designer will be able to make it look great, and hopefully, it may help someone in the future.

I know my strengths, and they definitely do not lie with graphic design. I have looked on PeoplePerHour, however, I don't want to get fleeced / sign up with someone where I've clearly overlooked very basic elements etc.

I guess what I am asking, is how much should I expect (ball park) to pay for the following:

Logo / sticker design
A5 postcard fridge magnet design

Any advice on securing design services would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Chris

If you Gooooogle "freelance graphic designer" you ought to find dozens of people. Send them your brief and ask for their price and samples of their work (if you can't see that via their website).

I'd expect a kind freelancer to charge for around three hours' work for a fairly simple logo and A5 design, if you give them a decent brief. If you don't give them a brief they may (and should) charge more to work with you to agree what you want, then allow for you changing your mind or asking for tweaks once you've seen their work.

Provincial, professional design agencies charge up to £100/hr so a freelancer should be no more than half that, I'd have thought.

I know a good freelance designer who might be interested in the job, but isn't local to you. Shouldn't matter though. Feel free to PM me if you'd like his details.

Thank you! I appreciate the guidance on time etc. I have no idea where to start! I am in contact with one designer from people per hour, but it's the first day. I'll send you a PM - thanks - it's only a small job but I want it to have real impact.
Thanks
Chris

I tried to get some urgent graphic design done on Fiver and it was terrible. I did a rough draft of what I wanted, but needed a graphic designer to make it look polished/professionally done.

The guy I contacted initially said he could do the work, but it was clear he thought he just needed to reproduce my draft in a industry standard file format. The concept of adding any professional artistic input seemed beyond him.

We blew through the deadline and I had to make do with my draft.

Was just about to say the same. If there’s a design or creative faculty - speak to them. If not, speak to the comms department of the Uni. If they don’t have in-house resources, they will almost certainly work with external design companies / individuals that may help.

Also, speak to the printers. They may be able to do a decent deal for you or have a few preferred designers.

Depends on complexity. Something simple, with just a few bullets then £100 - £200. If something more complex with diagrams, illustration and the like, then Upwards of £500 to £1k.

Hello there, buddy. In response to your inquiry, I would suggest writing a business strategy and analyzing the benefits and drawbacks of your concept.
With the best will in the world, the OP’s looking to have a fridge magnet designed, not launch a global, multi-channel campaign!

Having worked for some of these £100/hr design agencies I can tell you that most of that hourly fee is the design brief sitting in the 'to do' tray.
