My latest acquisition is this rather handsome old thing. My first drop-top and somehow I managed to collect it just as summer seems to have made an appearance. I've always had a thing for 90s/early 00s cabriolets so it's nice to finally have one.

2.0LPT
Manual
106k Miles
Recent cambelt.

It's definitely a 10 footer and it has a good side and (pictured) and a somewhat less good one (dented and keyed door), but it drives well with enough go for the slightly wobbly body and makes a great 5 pot noise. There's 4 usable seats and the cruise control works (air-con isn't as cold as it ought to be, but I think it's working). The manual box is pleasant enough to use aside from the fact that the shifter is slightly too far forward, but an auto would suit it better.

The biggest issue is that it has no sun-visors. Apparently they break fairly frequently and are specific to the C70 so I'm sure it'll be fun sorting that out.

There's also quite a lot of wind whistling coming for the front edge of the roof, is that something that can be adjusted?

Nice choice... I picked up an MGTF last week for much the same reason!

Thanks. I do like a TF and I'm sure it's a much more engaging drive. The space in the C70 is definitely nice though.

Very nice, pray the roof doesn't break as they are notoriously atrocious to fix!

Oh. Well it's working now and if it doesn't want to become a cube then it needs to stay that way!

I recognise that car, I never bought a ticket but it looks great.

Was this the car that appeared in the (terrible) The Saint re-make?

If iirc it was a bronze one and a relatively famous house music DJ (Tall Paul maybe?) bought it and kept it until he passed away.

I test drove one of these but found it really sluggish and heavy-feeling so bought a Saab 'vert instead. Maybe the one i tried wasn't working properly, but the Saab was a much better steer.

I couldn't resist. Went a bit mad with 3 tickets, but glad I did.

I think it was a coupe in the Saint remake.

A nice little C70 history here

It's not quick or light on its feet, definitely a wafter, but that suits me. I never got on with the 3 door 9-3 I had, just felt a bit cheap and Vauxhally, but I'd have probably liked it a lot more if the roof went down

That’s lovely. Volvos of that era are the dogs bananas.

That’s pretty cool. I have a soft spot for these and I like that engine too.

Good looking car there, but I am a bit of a Volvo fan, having owned 2 smaller Volvos ( currently got a very nice C30 that I have just had remapped- sadly not a 5 cylinder but a 1.6D ....a lot cheaper to run compared to the fabled T5 C30 that I lust after !)
Re the sun visors.....years ago I owned a 1970 Lotus Elan S4DHC, mine did not have the visors but they were an option on the later Sprint models IIRC. I just put a baseball cap on when the sun was low......!!!!
It actually worked....!!

Looking forward to more posts on your 'new'Volvo

Presumably if it is an LPT ( if that means Low pressure Turbo?) then it may be suitable for some sort of remap ?

Nice car mister.

A cap, and/or sunnies kept in the car will sort your sun shade issues.

Thanks. I did like my V70 T5 a lot too, but it was properly neglected and Volvo parts aren't cheap.

Thanks, it's surprising how much the engine likes to be revved. It goes pretty well when you do though.

Ta, a C30 T5 would be great fun. A cap is probably a good idea, I'm not really a hat werarer usually though.

A remap could apparently take it from 160-ish to 200+, we'll see how long I keep it first I think.

Cheers, it's definitely the easiest solution.

Autoste raffle. The easiest way to sell unpopular vehicles to people who already have too many cars. 3 of the 59 tickets cost me £35 so it's practically a free car so long as you don't add up all the tickets for other cars I have bought and not won.

A decent set of sunvisors were acquired. £60 delivered which didn't seem too bad and pretty simple to fit.

Next job is to properly clean the hood and tidy up the sealant around the rear window.
