Have you seen this on the BBC website.

A manufacturer has made a real working gun to look like a Lego toy.

I just can't understand what the thinking was behind this - publicity is about the only explanation.

Doesn't seem wise to give US cops reason to fear toy guns.

I am surprised someone hasn't gone on a cop killing spree with a bright orange or blue painted gun so it looks like a training weapon.

Still waiting for the true all plastic gun and ammunition for the ultimate in stealth handguns. With a plastic silencer too.

I’m all for guns for leisure purposes when they’re handled carefully. I’ve done some shooting myself with rifles and shotguns and it’s great fun but you don’t dick around. I think you need to have a lot of respect for firearms even for leisure use, and making them look like Lego and having pink my little pony assault rifles undermines this. But that’s just my £0.02

I agree wholeheartedly.

Just look at the makers publicity though.

Conversely, if it was mandated that *all* privately owned firearms in the US were required to be decorated with fluffy pink unicorn motifs, spangly My Little Pony logos and cerise pom-poms you'd likely see a massive decline in interest, and certainly when combined with legislation requiring that open carry of rifles is only permitted when wearing nothing but a dayglo yellow mankini would probably mean you'd see a lot less of those Gravy Seal types hanging around fondling their manhood substitutes. Probably.

You do suffer some of the most lurid fantasies, ed. Oh, well, who'm I to judge.

I can fully understand the outrage and completely agree

- if i was the LEGO company I'd be really pissed off
- guns aren't toys, so don't make them look like one
- there's a reason toy guns are made to look like toys

incredibly dim and short sighted of the gun company who made this. I hope it gets recalled.

There was a time when my local airfield was flirting with the idea of introducing the blight of mandatory high viz clothing, to which the response from a number of us was that we would then dutifully proceed to wear dayglo mankinis around the place. Whether the fact that nobody on God's earth deserves to see that sort of abomination, and that the airfield's safety record would actually be severely impacted by people spontaneously clawing out their own eyes, was a factor in the whole idea being quietly shelved, I don't know.

It's a sense of whimsy and fun. Because at the end of the day, the only reason I shoot is because it's fun.

Still had some metal parts and used metal ammunition.
