Normally I go on the Friday as they used to have extended F1 running times starting early in the morning and they did probably close to 3 hours running before mid afternoon- sadly this year seems very different with just 1 hour mid afternoon and another but not til late at 6pm. Bit gutted now…. rolleyes Also spotted race starts at 3pm Sunday not 2pm…

All free practices for all races have been reduced to force the teams on the track. The longer sessions meant lots of empty track time.

Ah, thank you, yes I do remember one wet Friday a few years ago and hardly anyone came on track as the forecast for Saturday and Sunday was dry so no point …

And this Friday, it's FP1 then straight in to qualifying in the afternoon. That's got to be better viewing than two lengthy practice sessions back to back..

The timetable says FP1 is 14:30 - 15:30…. But Then quali doesn’t start until 18:00. So that’s a long day for people getting there early to avoid the traffic - I was aiming for 8am but think I’ll risk delaying that now.

The tv schedule is packed all day but that doesn’t mean it’s all worth watching….

Sky TV content generation
F1 Pirelli hot laps are passenger super car rides
WSeries is basically F3
30 minutes watching soldiers parachute?
Sotheby’s F1 demo is a single 2010 F1 car

F1/2 aside, the Historic GT will be very enjoyable, the British F1 demo will be good too given a number of cars were at Goodwood last weekend.

Sorry, I meant no FP2 on friday, and quali on friday as opposed to saturday..

Granted there is a gap in between but there are support sessions and I've heard that a few beers and some greasy food can make the duller periods just about tolerable..

But in a nutshell, this new sprint race weekend format is intended to ensure all 3 days, fri-sun, end in an F1 crescendo that's worth hanging around for. Have to wait and see how true that is!
