Thought this would be of interest, came across this video yesterday, seems like a very good alternative to the Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology currently in use and more practical for heavy duty vehicles than batteries, good to see British Engineering coming to the fore (lead Engineer used to work at Lotus).

An interesting video but struggling to see the relevance to passenger cars?

Harry opens by talking about what are we going to do in the future when petrol/diesel cars get banned, and then proceeds to talk about the future for heavy plant machinery etc. The video is even titled "Is hydrogen, rather than electric, the future for big-engined machinery?"

I don't think anyone has argued against hydrogen making more sense than batteries in this application?

One of the best options for large excavators, and one already in wide spread use is to simply plug them in on a HV extension cable.....

It's also worth noting i'm not totally sold on Bamfords "batteries are too heavy" line, given that a typical large 360 excavator currently carries about 5 tonnes of cast iron counter weight to avoid it falling over..........

I think the only application for hydrogen in the future will be to fuel boilers in people’s homes. It’s a non-starter for road transport, including heavy machinery.

interesting because to me Lord Bamford comes across as a typical industrialist billionare complaining that he cant open new coal mines because peasants keep building cancer causing wind farms

and the utter bks he was going on about Musk

engineering explained has covered the huge flaws with ICE hydrogen engines a few times
