Its the "This is the National Crime agency" ones which I'm getting fed up of when they call.
Although it is a bit of sport to see how long you can play along for before they hang up on you.My girlfriend gets lots of these text messages, the links seem to be to websites trying to sell you things. I would be literally amazed if anybody buys anything from these sites?

EE send you an SMS. If legit it sits in your SMS inbox, and they are pretty good at detecting the spam and putting that in the spam folder.
I'm with Plusnet. When I get a genuine voicemail it's shown in my call history.I can't recall Plusnet sending me a text as well..... I could be wrong..... I can't recall seeing any scam ones because they go straight to the spam folder and are blocked automatically
Despite barring the calls I've been getting the National Crime Agency, National Insurance and my internet server being cut off just recently, all are a recorded message with options to connect to their advisor. I don't bother engaging any further in case they realise someone has taken the bait.
I do send scam e-mails to report phishing but what do you do with mobile phone calls like this?

I think the problem would be removed if the telecoms companies made it impossible to falsify the originating number.
The problem is local and international Telecoms using VOIP. I understand they are working on a new protocol to prevent it. It's impossible to stop at present. You can buy software online to carry out this scam. What Oftcom should do is make BT etc responsible for losses incurred and maybe they'll hurry up and make it more secure. I must get a dozen a week. Local London numbers that are actually from China. Receiving phone calls is becoming a pain in the ass.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
