Bridgestone RE71's
Discussion
I spoke with a local tyre dealer today regarding some 'Z' rated tyres for my V8S. I have been offered some Bridgestones RE71's in a 'Z' or 'Z/W' rating? I did not think that these could be sourced in this rating, and cannot find any info on the Bridgestone website?
Are RE71's any good?
Has anybody purchased in the 'Z/W' rating?
Cheers

RE71s are the original equipment for the S series. Bridgestone withdrew the tyre form Europe as it did not meet the revised specifications for tyre construction within the EU and they have not been available for several years. Make sure they're not old stock as they will be a long way pst their "sell by date" by now.
Please don't think that Goodyear F1's in 205,5515 Z are a good tyre choice as an alternative. I am not the only person on here who feels they are crap on the V8S. When I have time I am swopping mine from the rear to the front due to very poor handeling. If I had not of spent £71 + VAT on each they would have gone straight on ebay secondhand. The sidewalls visually deform to a far greater extent than the Bridgestones when you press them, on the car it feels like you are running flats. Changes in pressure don't appear to fix the problem.

Sounds exactly the same symptoms I found with Michelin Pilots. Couldnt get rid of them fast enough
Thanks guys...
I will see what they have to say about the RE71's... seems a bit dodgy if they are that old.
Sadly the other alternatives suggested by the tyre dealer were the Goodyear F1's and the Michelins!?!
RoyC/Le TVR - what tyres are you guys running now?
zchromozone - what would you go for now if you need new tyres?
Cheers

I have been looking here:-
www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html
For tyre prices, they seem to have a fair range and at reasonable prices (of course bearing in mind having to get them fitted etc) which include VAT and delivery.
Does anyone know what the Bridgestone Re720 or Avon Zv3's are like? Anygood on an S?

Ditto and surprised how good they seem

I am running Michelin Pilot Exalto's.
These are the latest upgrade to the Pilot and are far better in the wet. With my Bugsy supplied suspension set up it grips!!! Oh yes it grips!!!
I am sure the Chim boys who followed me on the hoon before Rockingham Thunder will testify to that.
I have no idea of price as they were gratia from a very nice man at Citroen!!
I am lead to believe that Toyos are very good. Terry Grant swears by them and anyone who went to Thunder, or has seen him elsewhere, will know that he must be a good judge.
