clutch problem

over the last few days i noticed that the clutch pedal was getting a bit stiffer than normal, coming back home today from a funeral, i had problems getting the car into gear, and then all of a sudden in the middle of very large roundabout the clutch pedal went straight to the floor with a loud bang, i manged to limp off the roundabout called the rac and it is now on it,s way to top cats. The car has done 25000 miles on the old clutch, is this a new clutch or the master cylinder. If itis a new clutch how much shall i be looking to pay.Thanks, Gordon.
