Inspired by the Ducati SL in the other thread, question.

Are there any really good / gorgeous / expensive / exclusive motorbikes that are actually suited to slower road use?

I was thinking about how much I like the Superleggera, and would get one if I won the lottery or something. And then realized how I wouldn't be doing it any justice at all on the road. So are there any bikes with similar exclusivity that are more sensible road machines? (I.e. <200bhp)

Paton?

They're lovely things in the metal, and have quite a cool recent history at the TT, too.

I wouldn't have anything associated with that scumbag Garner. I can confirm that those pipes sound epic, though. your neighbours may not agree!

Given what the new owners have said about the V4 being unfit for purpose, is it likely the smaller Nortons are any better? Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.

For what the OP is suggesting, a Paton really fits the bill. Has anyone here ever run one of the new generation Moto Morinis? They are "reassuringly expensive"? Then there's the Kramer two stroke...

Because most people who buy that sort of bike don't care how slow it is? I couldn't be doing with 50bhp but if all you do is pose from The Bike Shed to a beard oil shop you won't want the extra expense of the 1150. I can see why Guzzi don't bother, much as I find it rather appealing....

MV F3 800 triples…. Around 150bhp and very exclusive…. Also the Brutale and the Dragster…. F4 is just mental.

John Hogan (who I think is on here) recently tweeted a link to an article he'd written on the latest developments. Garner is now apparently involved in a charity for veterans.

edit: Here we go, it's a good read:

Presumably this is tongue in cheek:

Maybe Stuart intends to start doing charity work for the ex-services community. As a former soldier myself, this is a subject close to my heart and I’m keen to get involved and help out however I can. Stuart, if you’re reading this, get in touch. I’d love to help…

Seconded. Going back probably 20+ years, can you remember all the BS about V8 bikes ahead and other exotica coming out, MCN splashing amazing British bikes that were on the horizon and yet nothing actually happening? He let people down time and again and i spoke to the then editor at MCN at a race meet and told him that his 'paper should stop giving Garner never ending praise/coverage as he was big on promise and hot air and very short on motorcycle production.
I called Garner out several times and was told i was wrong and that it was all just taking longer than planned.
He was a crook in my mind and i notice that an awful lot of people now agree including some lawyers.
He promised lots but delivered very little and whilst i am no legal expert i'm amazed he has never faced jail, frankly.
