Hi guys,

Looking for some advise regarding the best tape to use for a small m4 BMW 4 series spoiler. I have gathered tiger seal seams to be the best most reliable applicant but it will almost defintely damage the boot lid if removal was attempted so I’m defintely after 3m tape instead.

However, which 3m tape would be best? On amazon a lot of the reviews claim the tape isn’t strong at all but posts on forums say otherwise and claim it holds spoilers just fine. I assume these 3m tapes on amazon are from China and aren’t the real deal? The spoiler I’m about to purchase is gloss black and lightweight so I am sure 3m tape would be fine.

Could anyone link the correct automotive 3m tape to apply the spoiler? The official 3m tape on their website is £60 lol.

Thank you in advance!

I'm not sure of that butyl tape is always the best solution - I've used it with some success in the past but I've alsi had failures. This stuff is stronger:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324583866904

I've used this in all sorts of applications - its waterproof, very tacky and is used in the automotive sector (amongst others) for trim.

Tiger Seal is the best permanent solution though, imo.

Thanks again. Would you say that tape you linked previously (screwfix) should do the job. I mean this m4 spoiler should be quite lightweight as it’s only gloss black and small. (Not real carbon fibre or anything)

No only side skirts, it does stick like st to a blanket in my experience.

Weight means nothing as it the air pressure that will pull it off if anything

I bought some VHB tape to hold the canvas frame to the rear window in my TT, it lasted about a week before it came away.

Probably needed an impact type adhesive for this, double sided doesn’t bond well to fabric.

I can't comment on which tape is best but I would recommend making sure both parts are thoroughly cleaned and degreased with something like a panel wipe. It should help greatly with adhesion.

For fitting a spoiler try and find products by 3M or look for tape by a company call Kent. Tried and tested and very good.
