E89 Z4 Salmon relays.
Discussion
Due to all the horror stories about the salmon relays failing I'm going to change them on my Z4. Seems like a quick and easy10 minute diy job, however I have 1 question, should I disconnect the battery before I change them?
I am worried that if I disconnect the battery all the settings will be lost, I have even read stories of the roof not working after the battery has been disconnected. On the other hand I don't want to do any damage by leaving it connected.
What are your thoughts on this??

To be on the safe side I would always disconnect the battery. Re the battery being disconnected, I had an E89 35is and I used to take the battery out to charge it. Never had a problem re the roof, windows or anything else for that matter. Yes the time and date need to be reset but that was about it.
Also keep in mind that you can’t open the boot if you close it after you’ve disconnected the battery so the close it over without engaging the lock or leave it up and open.
