Ford Bonnet wont open with the key.

Bl**dy cars !!!

Although i cant blame it for me putting petrol in it.

Turning the key wont open the bonnet anymore, a quick scan of youtube revealed several videos on large screwdrivers / chisels and big hammers.

A quick man handling of the grill gets that out ok.

The black shroud that sits on top of the grill / lock mechanism gets broken when you pull it out.

A large hammer on the lock mechanism reveals the bit you need to twist and hey presto it is open.

The replacement lock mechanism is about £50, but i will keep a large screwdriver and pliers in the car instead....

They are pretty exposed to whatever muck the vehicle in front is throwing out., the “cover” doesn’t keep out salt and spray from the mechanism.

An appallingly bad design and idea.

Why put a key and lock in such a position when there are many tried and trusted methods of securing a bonnet

Yup, been there. Absolutely ridiculous design.
