Brake pad terminology.

Please can someone explain the terminology used when describing brake pad materials. The data sheets use various terms and I don't really know what they mean so find it difficult to compare. My favorite compound is no longer Road approved so need to choose something else which gives good pedal feel and works from cold.

The sales blurb is of little use as plainly they are all superb.
