Plastic Headlight Sealer - To Stop Yellowing
Discussion
I used the 3M 39173 headlight sealer wipes on my 2002 E39 headlights last year as they were going really cloudy.
Sanded with 4000-2000 grit w+d then used the 3m Trizact pad that came with the wipes. Took a while to sand through the old coating that had started to fail, I think the key is to remove it all so you get down to the plastic lens and it doesn't look patchy. Came up really nice. still look just as good after 14 months. No yellowing and have held the gloss well.
2k laquer probably a better long term solution but needed something quick, cheap and DIYable to get through MOT.
