Ben & Jerry's to stop sales in Palestinian territories
Discussion
article said:
Ben & Jerry's has said it will stop selling its ice cream in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The US company said sales "in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)" were "inconsistent with our values".
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the move was "morally wrong" and would prove to be "financially wrong".
The West Bank and East Jerusalem have been under Israeli control since the 1967 Middle East war.
More than 600,000 Jews live in about 140 settlements there. Most of the international community considers the settlements illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this.
The ice cream maker said the move reflected the concerns of "fans and trusted partners".

What about other multinationals like Nestlé and P and G? Are they part of ‘the left’ also?

Presumably they sell their wares in Israel? I thought many of these brands went along with the Arab boycott, meaning they would sell in the territories, but not in Israel 'proper'(???) Perhaps B & J's marketing department have got the wrong end of the stick?
Unilever and some other businesses stopped using Israeli factories in the occupied territories a while ago also.Seems Arabs and Israelis are both ok it’s maybe just the occupied territories that are the issue?

Are Unilever lefties? Seems unlikely.

Similar hypocrites. Like when multinationals updated their logosfor Pride Month. Except in the middle east. The have high values where it isn't losing them cash. What about other multinationals like Nestlé and P and G? Are they part of ‘the left’ also?

More empty virtue signalling... hardly surprising.
I stopped buying BnJ's a couple of years ago after one of
their other 'progressive' campaigns.
The arrogance of these people. You make ice cream. Shut up and make ice cream ffs. Stop patronising people.
Many companies market their products to a specific audience in order to gain market share with that group. Whether the message given and the reality are the same is irrelevant, it’s just a matter for them to advertise among a target audience.I stopped buying BnJ's a couple of years ago after one of

With regards to B&J, they have always marketed themselves to a younger, liberal audience.
They know perfectly well that it will not appeal to others such as racists or homophobes, but they chose to leave that market to other ice cream makers.
Having a certain image among their target audience allows them to ask a premium compared to an unknown ice-cream maker who “shuts up and just makes ice cream”. Selling less ice cream at a higher price might well be more profitable than selling bigger volumes with tiny margins.
Being vocal is part of their business model, and it’s irrelevant whether their message is true or not, so long as their target audience is convinced by it they will be willing to pay more for the product.

So why do they do business in Saudi then? With regards to B&J, they have always marketed themselves to a younger, liberal audience.

They make, heavily market and profit from junk food in a world with what's being described as an "obesity pandemic", they have no more right to express virtue than the people who make glocks really. Maybe less.I stopped buying BnJ's a couple of years ago after one of

Precisely.Yet the morons who are gullible enough to fall for advertising, will think "Yeah free pallestine! I'm a young, edgy lefty and I'm told I must support pallestine, so this must be for me!"
