Thought I'd start a thread on my recent clio purchase. I'd been looking for something for a while but the mix of covid prices and nothing being local to me in the South with no time to go to view meant I was struggling to find anything I wanted.

I'd set myself on a Corsa VXR nurburgring edition and was planning to go view a couple on a week off work when this popped up on Autotrader one night at a dealer in the new forest.

'Full Fat' 200 with cup pack and Recaro options is apparently rare. I went to check it out first thing the next day and was impressed with the condition/dealer. Its on 60k and well looked after.

Cambelt and water pump done last service in November and the dealer did front and rear coil springs, rear shocks and a few other bits picked up as advisories on the last MOT so not much for me to do for the moment!

Great seats! Needs the Speedline wheels though.

Looks great, and the driver’s seat is in good shape.

I am following nickfrog’s and now your thread with interest as I have a deposit down on a well-optioned blue FF 200 from a specialist local to me. I should be collecting early August and will start my own RR thread as well!

They really are fun little cars! I've done 300 miles since picking it up, mostly down country lanes and it's been a blast.

Nice purchase, cracking cars these! Took mine round Cadwell Park a few weeks ago, it was in it’s element!

I'm hoping to get a few track days in in the not too distant future.

I also thought I was okay without a spoiler but now I'm thinking I'll pick one up!

You’ll love it on track!!

I do think they look a little naked / unfinished without a spoiler. I know it’s not to everyone’s taste, but I really like the cup spoiler.....

Yes I had a good drive of my mate’s 182 Trophy on our local lanes and decided I needed some ‘French tat’ (his words!) in my life yum

I pounced on one at a specialist before he had the chance to advertise (or in fact collect) it! I’m also planning to do the occasional track day, Brands being my local one.

Looks good OP, and nice work finding one with those seats.

I’d definitely be tempted to pop a spoiler on too, I like the white one posted above with the cup spoiler.

As a French tat owner myself I'm biased, but that does look really nice.

Lovely!

I had a 197 F1 that was an absolute hoot, did many track days and countless road trips.

First time back in the office since March today. About an hour on dual carriageway and motorway, Gear ratios have definitely taken me by surprise. 3k in 6th at 70mph is killing any dreams of fuel economy but it does make bursts of acceleration to pass people easy!

I'm a big fan of the cup spoiler and £300 fitted isn't bad

I wouldn’t bother, it only adds drag and takes 4 mph off Vmax - a chap on here actually did back to back tests!

Same goes for the speedines recommendation, they are about a a kg a corner heavier than the cup wheels you already have on.

Stunning looking car you’ve acquired there in true unicorn spec of full fat with the cup chassis and recaros with intact bolsters! Amazing that it seems to be totally unmodified, and can tell it’s an early one as it still has the proper Renaultsport badge on the rear and not the naff R.S. one that came on later models.

Wonderful cars, I’ve had mine from new in 2009 in identical spec to yours bar colour biggrin

Thanks! I'm really pleased with it. Last owner part exchanged it for a Volvo because is OH wasn't a fan but it's been kept in great condition. Only thing I want to address is the wheel as the stitching is a bit tatty.

I probably won't do anything for a few months yet anyway but I'm definitely keeping the wheels. I think I prefer them to the speedlines and if I was going to change them it would probably be for something aftermarket rather than OEM.

OZ Utraleggera wheels always looked great on these. A popoular choice across the Clio forum members

Still regret letting mine go for such little money (197 in Racing Blue traded in for £2500 in about 2016). If only I had the space I'd have held onto it and done something Fast-Roady-Weekend-Warrior to it.

Fond memories of these as I did my Ards in one at Oulton, had more fun in that the TVR race car I took along as well.

It's funny, it took me quite a while to get used to the looks of the Clio 200. Always felt the 172/182 were good looking little cars, the 197 a bit bland and the 200 I wasn't sure on.

I think they've aged really well and that looks great. Suppose it's also the last really great RS Clio as the automatic one never really pushed the right buttons and the next ones will be electric.
