I replied to your other post, but the RSPCA is a business like any other, CEO on six figures, too many managers, a lot of admin and front line officers run off their feet.

273 inspectors
90 rescue officers

1749 total staff

According to 2017 figures.

Are you implying that there are too many backroom staff Vs front line staff?

How many of those are volunteer or part time?

Pretty much my conclusion after trying to call them a few years ago. As I left to go home from work there was a fox limping on three legs hanging around the car park in broad daylight that was trying to come up to me. I phoned the RSPCA and they honestly couldn't have been any less interested.

We have the Wildlife SOS place near us so the few times I have found injured animals I have just gone there as the RSPCA were such a waste of time.

Whereas I had a very positive experience with them when I reported a baby deer in a hedge at my friend's farm who had been attacked by the dog next door. Unfortunately it was too badly injured to be saved, but they responded in a helpful manner and came out promptly.

I've also had good experiences with their local branches, in terms of dog/cat homes.

Like every big organisation, there will be good and bad.

Good luck OP!

Brilliant with a fix that we found hanging from our fence by its back leg - poor thing had tried to jump a stock fence and the top strand had twisted around the leg. Probably been there all night. RSPCA came straight out and I helped cut it free and get it in a cage. They took it away and fixed it's leg. Month later turned up and released it in the same spot. First class
