M25 closed by a Typhoon.
Discussion
Well not strictly true, and I am pretty sure the M25 would not be an option, but whereever it / they land would be a sight to behold!
Typhoons based at Farnborough for a few days might be cool too.

The practicality of bombing every flat bit of road in itself is pretty much impossible. That is why dispersion plans are a good idea.
Often the road stretch is only used for a short period, literally the time taken to shut the road, get the pre-positioned refuelling rearming vehicles and crew into place, then land, refuel, rearm, take off and clear the site to move to another one.
You could bomb all the road network and as long as you've got drop tanks to make up for the used fuel, do a vertical or very short run take off from a field.

It's quite an effort supporting a Typhoon detachment even from places like Cyprus nevermind some random motorway!
Ironically, Cyprus is one place already geared up to try it - this is a section of the A5 motorway:Those square concrete pads would make fine operational readiness platforms, and what look like runway piano key markings are in fact.....runway piano key markings. There is a matching set about 2300m further west down the motorway.

Indeed. You only have to look at the pre-planning and expenditure required back in 2011/2 for the 4 ship Typhoon detachment to RAF Northolt leading up to, and then again during the London Olympics to know that Wigton is talking out of his arse (as seems to be the case with most stuff he says these days!)
And Northolt is an active RAF base, so you'd have even more issue depoying to the likes of Farnborough, Teeside, Southend etc.etc.
It would be nice though to have a bit of loud fast jet activity around the south-east though once in a while

As for Typhoon operating of motorways, that's just laughable.
The Jag test killed off that idea nearly 50 years ago, and that was when there was waaaaay less 'highways furniture' infesting the motorway network than there is today.
This stretch of the M8 is actually on the alignment of the old Renfrew Airport runway; downsides are it's only 1500m long and glasgow corporation inconsiderately built a pair of 16 story tower blocks at the western end.

Cemetery halfway down the 'runway' should it all go wrong at least!

There's ways around the street furniture though. If they can make trees lay down like they did in Thunderbirds for T2 to take off, I am sure they can do the same with a street light.
Just choose a 3 lane bit of road, preferably unlit like much of the motorway network is outside junctions and cities. The "smart" motorway network means that the old hard shoulder, now lane 1 is relatively clean of debris compared to a typical hard shoulder. Although I imagine they would run a street sweeper type thing up and down a couple of times to catch as much FOD as possible.Psycho Warren said:
