Marketing email - options?
Discussion
Need to make a choice on a platform for sending marketing emails.
Company is getting set up with HubSpot CRM and I was planning to use the Email builder / broadcast capability as part of the marketing package. Just wasted 1.5 hours to realise that the email builder functionality is utter garbage.
I have used Campaign monitor in the past and its done the job, plus the build was pretty flexible. Used Mail chimp before that and felt it was pretty limited (good few years ago now)
Does anyone else have recommendations for a platform? Needs to have a decent drag / drop builder, and allow integrations with CRM. Wont be sending large volumes - total list 2k, maybe mailing >200 contacts a month.
Thanks

Sendgrid is good (and cheap) but more "advanced"
Mailchimp is the most intuitive imo and should fit most people's needs. I would imagine there is a third party app to link hubspot with mailchimp. You'd prob be on a free if not very cheap plan with that list
I used to run an email marketing business, we handled campaigns for a load of ecommerce fashion brands and property portals.
When we needed to send larger volume e.g 300k lists we'd use sendgrid - if not mailchimp
As has been said above, mailchimp have advanced alot in last few years to keep up with marketing automation etc.
If you need any advice feel free to PM
We use Klaviyo for the main sites, however we're moving some of our smaller sites to Omnisend.. It's worth a look as it's relatively low cost but it's pretty easy to use and does most of what Klaviyo does. You can also integrate multiple websites/lists under one account which is useful for multiple smaller sites.
One of the better pieces of advice I've received over the years was to use a dedicated subdomain for your emails - e.g. newsletter.brand.com for a mailing list. That way if something goes wrong in terms of spam blacklisting (a) you don't lose your ability to send regular business emails, and (b) you can always swap over to another subdomain.
