I have recently bought a 996.1 GT3 and am after a bit more noise through the entire rev range.

I don't want to spend mega money so was looking at some replacement mufflers....Cargraphic Super Sound export version or M&M export version seem to get good reviews.

Anybody have experience with the above or any other alternatives?

I had a sharkwerks rear box on my 997 which I really liked. Had more bite to the sound without being intrusive

Either would make things louder without being intrusive inside the car.
I'm a big fan of M & M's products, but personally, if you're going to do silencers, I'd go the extra mile (or three) and do the full exhaust and get the car re-mapped, you'll be staring down the barrel of 400hp+ and a noise that'll make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, along with a far more responsive powerplant and one that revs to 8000+rpm in a way the standard car doesn't come close to.

Define mega money, i had some customs knocked up based on the After Hours Exhaust for around £700
Also had straight pipes from the cat (pipe work loop around the same location of the back boxes and not the short pipe from D911), which was great but robbed it from low down torque which was noticeable

Do you intend to track the car? If so you will probably be wiser to leave the exhaust alone

Out of interest which one did you buy? Paragon?

I had fabspeed headers and GMG exhaust with 200 cell cats and XPipe on my old one (the Paragon black one) and it sounded amazing.

Yes, i bought the Paragon 996.1 GT3 a few months ago. I have also bought a pair of Cargraphic mufflers. I will report back once installed.

The black one? That’s my old car, I sold it to them, I hope you are enjoying it?

I bought the 996.1 Red Clubsport back in February. I believe a few previous owners are on here.

Better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all ... smile

Hope you're enjoying it.

Ahh, I wondered who the lucky new owner of the Red Baron was. Indeed Slippy, it’s a lovely car - I shouldn’t have sold it either !
Enjoy OP , you’ve got a wonderful car there.

Its great to see some pictures and hear from previous owners of my GT3.

I managed to find a pair of new Cargraphic Super Sound Export mufflers for sale on 911UK. I had them fitted last week.

And some before and after sound clips.

Cold start of factory mufflers:

Cold start with newly fitted Cargraphic Super Sound Export mufflers:

And finally, a short clip with gentle revving up to 4000 RPM (car was cold).

They were a good find Kristian. A mate fitted them on a Mk 2 996 GT3, they sounded much nicer from outside, but weren’t in any way intrusive inside the car.

Hi.
My Mk1 had custom made back boxes made by Janspeed they are not available to buy I tried to buy them for my Mk2 GT3 without luck.
They sounded great might be worth asking Janspeed the question if they can make them again if only wanting back boxes.
I have never known another GT3 to have them.
Good luck with your choice.

The Cargraphic silencers are very good, there shouldn't be any regrets on that front.

As for the Janspeed silencers, a mate has them on a Mk1 996 GT3, as you've said, they're rare (I've not seen them on another 996) and they do sound good.

Very rare might be my old Mk1 never heard of another Mk1 with them.
I couldn't ever get them for my Mk2 despite an Email to Janspeed.
If it's just sound needed back boxes are a much less expensive way to go.

My GT3 has a modified exhaust I believe but don't know what it is exactly.
It sounds pretty decent, although I did see in an older service report that sound deadening had been fitted at some point, might have to try removing it sometime just to hear the difference.
It has the Manthey K400 upgrade, was there a specific exhaust for this ??

Pic here if anyone can identify it ??

Hi Sandy, I hope you're well ?
You have the later Manthey K400 exhaust system, identifiable by the pressed silencer casings. The complete system was supplied M & M, whereas the earlier systems had manifolds supplied by M & M and the silencers supplied by Europipe. I personally preferred the Europipe silencers as they were a bit more strident.

As many will know (and found out to their cost) the K400 system can be borderline when it comes to passing noise limits, so I presume a previous owner requested the fitment of the two additional silencers you've photographed. They were on the car when I viewed and test drove it at The Hairpin Co (back in 2012-13 IIRC) I suspected that JZ Machtech had had them fabricated and fitted them, does the paperwork you have back that supposition up ? I ask as I thought I saw a fairly lumpy bill from JZM for the fitment of the additional silencers.

Here's what the system looks like without the additional silencers :

Note the fabricated Europipe silencers fitted to the early systems, as opposed to the M7M pressed items (that look like the OE factory parts) fitted to your car.
