HPFP issue F31 alternative fix ?
Discussion
Hi All,
I have a 2014 F31 bmw 110k FBMWSH to my knowledge never been miss fuelled however the HPFP has failed as per a lot of them especially this year ! Bmw want 10K to guarantee their work which is more than the car is worth the insurance will not cover it I'm gutted.
I have been told that there is an alternative fix? Getting the pump replaced the tank dropped fuel line / rail cleaned out and the injectors replaced?
Has anyone had this done was it successful?
There's no point dealing with bmw they have been awful the whole experience. I don't want to pay an independent a few grand if it won't work.
Also does the extended warranty cover this if anything went wrong in the future ?

Hi sorry I couldn't post for 24 hours due to being new here.
Yes it's the 2 litre , seems like a common fault although bmw will not accept it as that.
Has anyone had an alternative fix ? What is the risk of it not working and some metal being left in ?
Also does the whole engine need stripping ? As you can tell I'm not great with these things

You must replace the pump(s), injectors and possibly the injector rail. Then clean out the tank and fuel lines. Nothing else will do. Some owners have fitted a filter in the return line and I've heard of a magnet being tie wrapped inside the tank. It's a good day's work and you don't strip the engine.
