The Vauxhall Astra is very hard to beat at this price point & with it's N/A 1.6 engine & conventional auto gearbox there's not a lot to go wrong.

After some investigation, doesn't the Astra have a rubber seal on the transmission cooler that fails and dilutes the transmission fluid with antifreeze? Just like the issue on early 2000 Mercedes?
