Bug experts get rid of the name 'gypsy moth' because some Roma people consider it to be an ethnic slur.

The group this week announced that for the first time it changed a common name of an insect because it was offensive. In the past they've only reassigned names that weren't scientifically accurate.

She also argued that 'no one wanted to be associated with an invasive pest'
I do feel sorry for the poor moth. smile

Well, Sir Francis Chichester is dead, and De Havilland stopped making them about ninety years ago, so no surprises there then.

They were only called Gypsy Moths because they were powered by a de Havilland Gypsy engines. The DH60 Moth was the correct designation.

And what about the Keil Kraft Gypsy flying model? I built one nearly 50 years ago and wouldn’t mind building another one.
