Hi all - I'd welcome some suggestions on car choices that would meet these requirements please;

(For reference, I had my heart set on a second-hand Porsche Macan but when we went to try, it's too small in the back for the boys. I suggested a Cayenne but my wife said it's too big and would not drive it).

- 4 door, room in the back for two 6 foot 3" teenagers
- Mid-size (not too wide/long)
- Relatively high seating position
- No long bonnet
- 4WD preferable (FWD would be OK, no RWD)

Currently have a Mercedes B-class performing this role which is OK, but it's time for a change.

Thanks v much

Perhaps not what you're looking for if you've been looking at Porsche, but Skoda Karoq with Varioflex seating? 3 independent rear sears move forward/back and recline. You can remove the middle seat and slide the outer seats inwards to create more room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39EssEXNSCs

I think the seats in a Q5 slide but aren't removable.

I'm 6ft 4 and the only thing I've been in where I could comfortably sit behind myself is an Audi Q7!

Ford Tourneo Connect. Can't think of anything else that suits your needs and won't be bigger than a Cayenne.

Congrats, your wife is forcing you to driive a van hehewink

It depends on how much you want to spend?

Volvo XC40 or XC60 - depending on which one is too big or too small... and of course how much you want to spend

3.0D F Pace a very nice option & for me it's the pick

D5 XC60

Or if you want to save a fair bit of money but without skimping on the spec (sunroof 360 cameras adaptive cruise etc) then the Qx50:

All the above are CAZ/ULEZ compliant.

Does it have to be Suv? Probably not on your radar but a Skoda superb with the hottest engine would fit almost all your criteria. Massive inside with easy room for 4x 6ft+ .
But I'm guessing if you are looking at macans the superb isn't the sort of thing you are looking for.

Thanks but it's the high seating that's seemingly most important for my wife, so the Skoda wouldn't make the cut !

Skoda Kodiaq if the high seating position is non-negotiable, Superb if its not essetnial - both have acres of rear seat room

I have just swallowed a semi-brave pill and bought a 2016 Disco Sport. High spec HSE Luxury versions are quite rare but fall within your budget.
They are quite wide though - mine has the Vision Assist pack (as far as I can tell just 360 degree cameras) that helps in narrow spaces.
As I have only had it 10 days, I cannot critically appraise it yet; a Bristol/London trip on Friday & a fortnight in the Jura next month will determine the wisdom of the purchase...

I'm 6'4" and found that the floor was too high in the rear of the X3,(2016 that I tried) compared to the seat, meaning my knees were waving about and couldn't get comfy,
Maybe the new one is better
