O2 mobile abroad.

As I'm sure most of you are aware I just got back from Kavos.
While I was there I had 3 phone calls. I'd checked tarrifs before I left so knew it would cost me £1.49 a minute to recieve the calls so I didn't answer. The 1st 2 I let ring out and the 3rd I cancelled. Each time, even though I never answered, O2 took £1.49 off me :yikes:
Furthermore, I got a txt saying I had voicemail. Thought it may be important seeing as my sister had just given birth so decided to retrieve it costing me 99p...BUT, all I got was "you have no new messages" grrrrr :furious:
Is this normal? And if I emailed O2 would I have any chance of them reinbursing my account as I have no credit left now!!!

useless at sorting anything out...I'm on O2 payg and to be honest I can't complain at all about their uk tarifs. £10/month & 300 free txts suits me fine. Anyway, I've just unlocked my Nokia 3220 and will be buying a sim card when out in Thailand next week. I'm hoping that'll work out cheaper if I need to txt/ring anyone.

A lot of effort to try to reclaim £1.49p and 99p, glad i'm not that poor 
And have they really charged you in error? they probably havent as it still costs them to use the foreign networks to get your phone to ring abroad even if you dont answer it, I bet the small print is there somewhere.

I'm on o2 and although have had some horrendous bills while abroad, they've not charged me for calls I have rejected as far as I'm aware. Sounds like they've made an error, in which case ask for a refund. Can take a while though as it may be that the foreign network is the one that actually charged you, so O2 would have to liaise with them about it. You can talk to O2 by email by the way, it's often less hassle than phoning them

Just be patient then, they have always reimbursed me when they have made an error (which they did on my GPRS allowance)
One question though, did you make or receive any calls (other than the ones you rejected) or send any texts when you were there? Sometimes these can cause confusion by appearing twice on the bill - once for the O2 charge (which for a text may just say 0.00p if it is part of your allowance) and then another entry for the foreign operator's charge.

No - 'cos you didn't pay for them! The sender pays, not the receiver (unlike with mobile 'phones).
They did the same to me Lois. I'm abroad in a non EU country and to even recieve a call would cost me an eye watering £3.84 per minute! 
Mind you, it's a miracle it even works out here at all so I guess I can't complain too much.
What annoyed me was there billing system. I made hardly any calls out (didn't fancy selling my liver and kidneys on Ebay - not that my liver would fet much anyway!) but sent the odd sms message but they never appeared on my bill! Instead I was charged for all these very very short phone calls!
It was something to do with the way the work bills out for non EU countries or something, I never did get a satisfactory response. Just stopped using my phone instead
