Audi S1 black roof a-c pillars.. wrap or painted?

Hi PH's,

I have been looking at S1's for a month or so now and am leaning towards a Vegas yellow 3.dr if I can get one. What I have seen on quite a few examples is where the roof is black but only on the sides, from a pillar to c pillar.... If that makes any sense? I'm not really a fan, I love the yellow and much prefer it all be yellow.

Does anyone know if they are painted this way from the factory or is it just a wrap?

I have attached a picture of a car with the black side-only roof I'm talking about.

I can’t help,on whether it is paint or a wrap but I agree with your view on now it looks.

If it turns out to be paint (and expensive to change to yellow) then having the roof wrapped in gloss black would look better and would not be too costly.

I agree, it would look better all black for sure and could be easily achieved with a wrap. I would prefer all body colour, especially in Vegas yellow!

I'd wager it's paint the contrasting roof line was a feature of the A1 spec sheet the 3dr has the bits above the 5dr got the entire roof painted

My old S1 was dark grey with silver roof. I bought it as an ex-demo car and it was painted that way

It’s paint. I’ve got a white A1 with black pillars and the roof itself is white. The observation above is correct about the 5dr having an entire roof in the contrast colour but just the pillars on the 3dr

I like the way it looks; I think all yellow wouldn’t look so great in side profile. As said above, maybe wrap the roof panel black?

Thank you for all your replies. I'm surprised its painted, really thought they would have just wrapped it. Either way I think the best course of action will be to wrap the rest of the roof black to match.

Question is however, what to do with the roof spoiler... can that be wrapped due to its shape?
