Many of us PH'ers ran radio control buggies when we were younger (some of us still do). Unfortunately, I totalled all of mine and sold them on as wrecks. I'm now out to re-enact my childhood r/c days and am looking for Tamiya cars to rebuild and display. Even if you've got a buggy that's well used, that's cool. If it's soundly knackered then I might take a raincheck...!
So come on guys what Tamiyas have you got. Let me know and I'll stick you some cash for them. What did you used to race round when you were younger...?

1 A totaled beetle that me and my dad made from scratch(he used to make a lot of radio controlled planes so he had the 'power'
2 A Tamy Grasshopper which was a sort of offroader but with a racing body, that should be in a resonable condition, will try and find it during the week.

No that's not me. Some of the older metal based kits go for good money these days and the spares are harder to get hold of so it doesn't surprise me people are looking. I'm more into the later plastic ones that came about in the 80's. Falcon, Frog, Fox, Bigwig, Boomerang and all that...

Doh - Gave away what I had remaining of my stuff late last year...
Boomerang, Optima Mid, and the best was one of those 1/12th scale F1 cars (Camel Lotus I remember).
Plus a slightly dodgy 29mhz radio set (imprted from Oz I think) - no imterference problems for me
I went the other way - started pratting about with Scalextric 'cos I *didn't* have one in my youth...

Having moved house recently, I discovered my old Tamiya Frog. I have had a look at it and I think it is a bit beyond repair. I have, however built up a great Scalextric collection, but the problem with this is setting up the track every time you want to have a go. They have updated the Scalextric stuff, the track now clips together a lot more easily than before. Best of all is the new jump which does fit into the old track. Be careful with this though, after a few beers it does get placed at the end of the longest straight to see how far you can get the cars across the room!!!
When I can't be bothered setting up the Scalextric I muck about with Bit Char-G's. They are small RC cars that are just bigger than a matchbox. Great fun for indoors. I have also imported a rather good big foot RC
that is based on the race tin sized cars. It's great for going through the flower beds! I am intending to import a few different types of ready to run RCs soon, I will keep you guys posted, I might even bring them to the VW meet.
We are all big kids really!!!

maybe paths have crossed before PH? anyone do the SWORDS series 1/10th elec.(South West Off Road Drivers Series)back about 1983-85, god this sounds like friends unite, oh well done that too! some of you probably know me old muker Darryl Firth of Lesro models / Trinity motors. Sorry, no stuff though, a mate has a very complete collection though, from Wild willy 2 subaru brat 2 Blazing blazer 2 sand scorcher...

I've got a 'Wild One' kicking around somewhere. It needs a bit of TLC, but it's not beyond repair!
Chucked away a completly wrecked original 'Wild Willy' a couple of years back! Was a really fun model, so I went and bought a new 'wild willy 2' a few months ago! Still haven't put it together yet though!

I have a Traxxas Rad 2 going begging, with controller and quick/slow charger (brand new used twice only cost £30) rear wheel drive looks like a pikes peak car, gave me a few hours of amusement, I got it second hand so the bodywork's seen better days but it works......offers around £40 I suppose

Traxxas make some really nice stuff, but they were really built for racing and not as models whereas Tamiya stuff was really kiddies backyard bashers for the majority and it's the latter I'm after. (Couldn't afford Traxxas when I was little...!).
