Correct tyres for 640D on R18s ?

I can't quite pin down the correct tyres for this car. It currently has 245/45/R18 all round - but a lot of place are suggesting a 275 tyre for the rear. It's Premium / LE trim rather than M Sport, if that makes a difference.
Are your alloys the same size all round; or do you have a staggered set up?For staggered; wider alloys at the rear etc, will be why the wider rears are being suggested
Also; check Camskill for tyre prices; you just need to get them fitted locally

My F11 had staggered 613M alloys (similar to the 640d) and 275 section rears.
The 245s fit perfectly well all round, and well within the tyre manufacture tolerance, so no need for a 275 unless you specifically want to.
Good to know. I have 245s on the rear now, but I think i cheaped out (well, I know i did) and they've been triggering DSC lights at speed in gentle corners. I had begun to think they were undersized but now i think it's just a crummy tyre. The 245s fit perfectly well all round, and well within the tyre manufacture tolerance, so no need for a 275 unless you specifically want to.

how much would i expect to pay for fitting only ? Would I have them delivered to the garage ?For staggered; wider alloys at the rear etc, will be why the wider rears are being suggested

Have you checked what alloys you have?
I haven't. I will do, but they are factory 18's for the LE model.

You can have them delivered to you or your garage; you just input the specific addresses on Camskill etc...

According to this alloy wheel site; your alloys should be staggered:https://www.auto-treff.com/wcf/index.php?article/2...
So that's something you need to find out. If you remove the rear alloys; it'll tell you the fitments on the rear of the spokes; it'll give you the size, the offset (ET) etc
Personally I wouldn't be running 245s on a 9" wide alloy; they need to be 265s or 275s as per the OEM sizing. If you've got a straight set of 19x8.5 alloys all round; then the 245/40s will be perfect

really appreciate this. I'll try to get the wheel checked, but it seem to explain the DSC triggering under load - which it didn't do on the tyre it has on originally. Sadly i dont remember what size they were.https://www.auto-treff.com/wcf/index.php?article/2...

No worries
It could be that the tyres are passed their best too and slipping, hence the DSC kicking in!

I have the same 245 front and back on my 550i. The DSC will flash occasionally if they slip a little. That's normal. Having the same size means you can swap them round from front to back. If the back ones are looking a bit more worn than the front then try a swapsie.
The big question is what tyres are they?
A mid range Kumho will destroy a premium Pirelli run flat.
And obviously as the tyre ages it will go off. A newer tyre is always better than an older one.
