First off I didn’t name it. the wife did.

Whilst contemplating life and my future about 4 weeks ago I was browsing PistonHeads when I came across a review for the new Suzuki Jimny light commercial vehicle (LCV).

See PistonHeads review here:
https://www.pistonheads.com/news/general-pistonhea...

Well my wife runs her own Ltd company. She had been considering purchasing a pickup or van via the business but frankly some of the pickups are bloody huge and a van just didn’t really do it for her. So as i read the article i was not only impressed with the little Jimny reviews myself but thought you know what this might just be what the wife was looking for.

I quickly sent her a link to the article and the wife really liked it. So over the following few weeks every review on YouTube was watched and phone calls to all our local Suzuki dealerships were made but basically it seemed there was a better chance of me flying to the moon than the wife being able to get hold of one in the kinetic yellow that she wanted.

Well 2 days ago I got a phone call from the wife from work. She’d found one in a dealership in Sheffield pre registered (aren’t they all, it appears dealerships are registering them and then selling them at over new price), only had 17 miles on the clock.

Yes she has paid more than RRP but there was only a couple for sale in the UK and hopefully the rarity will help it hold its value.

No point me doing a review there are already plenty of those out there already.

Few pictures from collection.

Plans for the immediate future;

1) MrsMB140 had already purchased the official phone holder before even test driving it.
2) Slight tint to the rear windows (there is no cover for what’s in the back and not broadcasting to the world what’s in the back seems like a good investment.
3) Cup holders, yep that’s right it has no cup holders.
4) Spare wheel cover

Plans for further down the line(in no particular order);

1) Bull bar for the front (perhaps, still not sure on this)
2) Light bar for the roof
3) Tow bar (perhaps)
4) bigger off-road wheels and tires
5) old style front grill

www.Jimnystyle.com already has a basket full of stuff for the future so that’s MRSMB140 birthdays sorted

Hi all!

First drive review…..

Bearing in mind for the last year or so I’ve been running a Mustang GT on modified suspension with a few other mods too, anything else feels like an armchair to me!!

The Suzuki Jimny LCV is a cracking little motor for the money, but the missing cup holders is annoying! As a commercial vehicle don’t expect luxuries, however it does have auto lights, A/C, DAB radio, Bluetooth etc, but no satnav like the ‘car’ version.

Where driving/ride is concerned normal town driving is brilliant, it handles potholes and poor road conditions well, they are smoothed out really well! On the motorways, in my opinion, 60-65mph is the sweet spot. It is capable of 90mph, but anything over 70mph was a little bit ‘wandering’.

It’s a very agricultural feeling vehicle, don’t expect it to be top notch, but it’s fantastic as far as I’m concerned!!

Mr MB140 is happy I’ve picked this over a pick-up or a land cruiser! I am on construction sites for work, so it’s not wasted or vanity purchase! I will happily answer any questions about it smile

Looks like you picked up yours on the same day I did! But mine is black, I did want yellow, but now I think living with the black is better. I have also started with the mods, blacked out the back windows immediately and got a nudge bar on, and side steps are on order.

BTW there are 2 cup holders between the seats, although there are a lot of better ones for the dash available.

Yeah MrsMB140 has started with some subtle mods. Blacked out the rear windows. Subtle tint on the fronts.

Couple of the official cup holders and phone holder.

Rear tailgate net fitted
Rear load cover fitted these use an eye bolt design. 1 of the 6 finishes vertically. The other 5 are all perfectly horizontal. Really messes with my OCD, doesn’t bother the wife at all.

San79y which nudge bar and side steps did you go for. Do you have a link?

I got mine from here:

https://www.truckman.co.uk/vehicles/suzuki/jimny/j...

Jimny Style are a rip off, I've sourced a lot of the same stuff they sell for a fraction of the cost. They charge £30 for a cheap bit of plastic that should be a few quid, which it is elsewhere.

I've dove in fully with the mods now! It's like a customizing a toy. So far:

Blacked out back windows
Rear screen heater wire covers
Tray on the central tunnel
Chassis bungs
Nudge bar
Ladder on boot lid
Custom light switches to fit blanks in the dash, light up orange like OEM
Tow hook (on order)
Front grill light bracket (lights for it on order)
Side steps (on order)
Roof rack with lights (on order)
Work lights (on order)
Speaker mount kit for boot area (on order)

I am sticking to bolt on items, so no drilling or cutting of anything so far and totally removable. I'll see what's next once all of that has arrived.

I'm slightly jealous that you managed to get a yellow Jimny OP; that was my first choice, with black as a close second. I ended up with white although it is growing on me. I have seen a Jimny wrapped in orange and it looks fantastic so that be an option!

I really love it as it's such a feel good car, both to look at and to drive. The only modifications I've done so far is to have the rear windows tinted, and move the rear mesh bulkhead back to allow more room for the seat (at 6ft it was uncomfortable). I was considering how to modify it when I realised there is a second mounting point further back, although I did have to modify the lower rear bulkhead to fit (removed the lower mounting lugs).
