Active Tourer F45, rear screen muck magnet. Solutions ???
Discussion
For the first time since I got the car in February it has done some serious miles this past few days, much in the wet.
Like all hatchbacks the rear screen just draws the spray and road muck on to it. I will be fitting some mud flaps rather than mud guards to try to reduce the spray effect a little, although I think the guards are neater the flaps will be more effective.
I was wondering if such a thing as a rear screen lip spoiler might exist, the sort of thing that would fit along the lower edge of the window ? This might also help break uptake air flow attraction to the window. I have not seen one but if anyone knows of such a thing ????
Any other suggestions then please let me know.
Many thanks.
Brian.

Not sure about spoilers etc; mud flaps seem the best you can do. But I think the other thing is give the screen a good wash then coat in rainX or similar - spend a bit more and try carbon collective glass coating. The latter has been really good on our new q7 the rear screen so far - stays notably clearer than it would otherwise.
Sadly the roads seem filthy at the moment because we have had so much rain this year washing muck off the verges onto the roads

I think the shape at the rear and the angle of the rear screen is the biggest factor.
I've had a couple of E46 Compacts and once I got the screen clear it never got dirty again travelling at Motorway speeds.
But my E87 1 Series just seemed to attract spray and road dirt at any speed, presumably because the rear screen was much more upright.
And you can't do much about the shape of the car!

Same here; all of the 1 series hatchbacks (E87/1 and F20) I’ve owned have been very good at collecting dirt on their rear ends when it rains.I've had a couple of E46 Compacts and once I got the screen clear it never got dirty again travelling at Motorway speeds.
